Acquiring license granted by VISA to Ameriabank in 2013 opens good prospects for e-commerce, said Artak Hanesyan, Ameriabank’s Chairman of the Management Board – General Director at a press conference held January 31. Any merchant cooperating with Ameriabank may accept VISA, MasterCard and ArCa card payments via Internet. “We have developed in-house integrated software for acquiring processing so that the whole process for our clients is completely hassle-free”, he said.

The first license for online payment acquiring was granted by VISA to an Armenian bank (Areximbank) in June 2012. Ameriabank is a pioneer in Armenia to offer its clients an in-house acquiring platform (starting from November 2013).

According to the estimations of Ameriabank experts, though e-commerce sales are not very developed in Armenia, they have seen an increase by 40-45% during recent 2-3 years (as of 2012, AMD 4.4 bn).

Ameriabank’s sole shareholder is Cyprus-based Ameria Group CY Limited.
