Ameriabank Continues Financing Greenhouse Facilities
Media Room

Greenhouse industry – one of the most dynamically developing segments of agriculture – is in the focus of Ameriabank's attention. The bank has provided the bulk of funding for a greenhouse with an area of 10.5 ha, which will open in Goght village of Kotayk region of Armenia on May 15 this year.

The construction of the greenhouse, initiated by “Armyanski Urozhay” LLC, was launched in 2014. A total of 30 ha of land has been cultivated, but only 10.5 ha will be used for the moment. The facility shall be used for growing various vegetable crops – tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers – the major part of which will further be exported mainly to Russia. Note, that the greenhouse will create 300 new jobs.

Agriculture has been the leading sector of the Armenian economy since 2010. In 2014, agriculture made 19.3 percent of the country’s GDP. Much of its growth in recent years is owed to the development of industrial agriculture – gardening, fish-farming and, especially, greenhousing. Ameriabank’s greenhouse loan portfolio currently stands at $40 million, the highest indicator in the banking system of Armenia.
