Agreement Signed for Construction of Ropeway to Tatev Monastery

Congress Hotel hosted the signing ceremony of the agreement on construction of ropeway to Tatev and a press-conference. The ropeway construction is part of ‘Tatev: Renaissance and Development’ 3-year project initiated in February 2009 by National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia (NCFA).  
 
The project is aimed at promotion of tourism in Armenia through reconstruction of Tatev Monastery and creation of relevant infrastructure. The monastery is of great spiritual, cultural and historic value. With 4 components in total, the construction and operation of the ropeway is the first component of the project. 

The agreement was signed by Artashes Kazakhetsyan, Head of Ropeway Construction Phase and a board member at the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia, Peter Bauman, Marketing and Sales VP at Garaventa AG, a Swiss company focusing on construction and installation of ropeways, and Niklaus Moser, Project Manager. Amongst the event attendees were Nerses Yeritsyan, Minister of Economics of Armenia and board member at the NCFA, Bekor Papazyan, Executive Director at NCFA, Andrew Mkrtchyan, Managing Director at Ameria CJSC and Board Member for NCFA, and Artak Hanesyan, Chairman of the Management Board – General Director at Ameriabank.

The agreement envisages construction of 5.7 km long ropeway to connect Halidzor Village in Syunik Marz and Tatev. The construction will take about a year. The longest one among its kind, the ropeway will be operated all year long and will have seating capacity for 25 passengers per direction at a time. The total cost of the agreement approximates €6.8 mil. 
 
‘Tatev: Renaissance and Development’ project is implemented by the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia and Armenia 2020 program with the financial support of Tatev Foundation and ARGA Foundation established by Ruben and Veronica Vardanian and Friends. Ameriabank partners the project as servicing bank and financial advisor.
